Town of Enfield Reports 21.9% Increase in Recycling

In January 2012, the Town of Enfield instituted an automated, bi-weekly single stream recycling program. The period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 shows a 21.9% increase in recycling.

The Town of Enfield is committed to improving the efficient use of natural resources and constantly strives for waste reduction, recycling and recovery. The increase in recycling results in a decrease of solid waste which translates to cost savings for the town.

Phone books, aluminum cans and clean foil, plastics 1 through 7, milk and juice cartons and any color glass bottles are among the items accepted in single stream recycling. For a full list of what can and cannot be recycled or where to dispose of items not allowed in the blue tipper barrel, visit the Town of Enfield website at www.enfied-ct.gov/dpw.
