Parkway Pavilion Patio and Garden Dedicated in Memory of Roger and Elsie Andersen

Over 70 people were on-hand on Sunday, June 23 to dedicate a new patio and garden in memory of long-time Parkway Pavilion Healthcare volunteers Roger and Elsie Andersen.

According to Barbara Hargraves, the Andersen’s daughter, their family requested memorial donations in their parents’ memory be made to the Parkway Resident Council Fund. Those donations were used to create a lasting memorial that will allow Parkway Pavilion residents and staff the opportunity to enjoy nature the way their parents did.

Roger and Elsie Andersen’s connection to Parkway began over 25 years ago when Elsie began volunteering in the Recreation Department a few hours a week. Parkway Pavilion became a way of life for Elsie who ultimately was volunteering about 40 hours a week, assisting with just about every program the residents were involved with. Once Roger retired from his fulltime job, he joined Elsie as a volunteer utilizing his skills in every capacity including painting doorways and creating scenery for Santa’s house during the holiday season.

In her remarks, Barbara Hargraves extended special thanks to everyone who made donations in memory of her parents, as well as to those who created the garden and patio. Father Weaver from St. Patrick’s and St. Adalbert’s Church offered a blessing. A reception with refreshments and entertainment followed the dedication.
