Parkway Pavilion Healthcare Celebrates Volunteers at 40th Annual Volunteer Luncheon

Parkway Pavilion Healthcare celebrated their 40th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon during Nursing Home Week in early May. This year’s Nursing Home week theme was celebrating the islands and diversity that unites all of the people involved in resident care. In keeping with the theme, guests enjoyed island cuisine, complete with Lava Bundt cake, in Parkway’s Luau decorated dining room.

Parkway Pavilion Recreation Director, Diane Sokol welcomed the volunteers, stating, “Our residents are so fortunate to have each one of you from your diverse cultural backgrounds and the many talents you possess. Each day you bring countless smiles and sunshine to our residents through a variety of ways.”

Volunteers were recognized for two to 20 years of service, helping with new games to keep resident’s minds sharp to physical games to keep them fit. Parkway volunteers assist with arts and crafts projects, floral arrangements with fresh flowers and nurture residents spiritual journey through church services/mass, bible studies, hymn sings, rosary, communion and room visits to share spiritual stories. They encourage singing, karaoke, participate in birthday parties, happy hours, and share their musical talents, bringing joy to Parkway residents every day.
