ITNNorthCentral Connecticut™, Annual "Walk for Dignified Rides for Seniors and the Visually Impaired" Saturday, April 26 at Asnuntuck Community College

ITNNorthCentral Connecticut™, annual “Walk for Dignified Rides for Seniors and the Visually Impaired” is slated to take place at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.; registration opens at 9:00 a.m.

Community support from the Walk is necessary to continue to provide the much needed funding to insure ITNNorthCentralConnecticut™ continues the dedication to have available dignified transportation for seniors and the visually impaired. Many seniors and those who are visually impaired do not have family members who live in the area. If they do, many are working and have difficulty leaving their jobs to provide transportation.

Kathy Beale is a trained ITN volunteer driver, a Walk committee member and daughter of parents who utilize the service. Beale recognizes the importance of this much needed transportation. Kathy, who originally lived in California, had only one sibling, who was a single dad with time constraints. Their parents were not comfortable driving at certain times or to some destinations for appointments, ITN filled the gap. Kathy moved back to Connecticut after her Mom had a stroke, her Dad has since passed away and Kathy values the service to keep her Mom independent.
