Fred Macsata Appointed to Hazardville Fire Commission

Enfield native Fred Macsata was recently appointed Commissioner of the Hazardville Fire District. Macsata, who was born and raised in Enfield, joined the North Thompsonville Fire Department at 16 years old as a volunteer junior firefighter.

From 1976 until 1980 Mr. Macsata was active military in the United States Air Force as a firefighter, remaining as a reservist until 1990. In 1980, he became a civilian fire fighter at Westover Air Force Base later moving to the U.S. Naval Sub Base in Groton. In March 2010, Fred retired from the Thompsonville Fire Department after 23 years of services.

According to Fred Macsata, “Firefighting has been a lifelong passion; being a fire commissioner fulfills a need in some fashion. It seemed the right thing to do. I feel that as a commissioner, I offer experience from a firefighter’s perspective, as well as from a taxpayers.” Mr. Macsata lives in the Hazardville section of Enfield with his wife Lori. The Macsata’s have four children and four grandchildren.
