Second Man Faces Charges In Pistol-Whipping Robbery

Homeless man charged on three separate warrants.

A young homeless man turned himself in to authorities Tuesday morning, and faces numerous charges from three separate warrants, Enfield police said.

James Dunning III, 19, surrendered at Connecticut State Police Troop H in Hartford, Capt. Fred Hall said.

He is charged with 1st-degree robbery and 2nd-degree larceny in connection with a Nov. 17 robbery on Thistle Lane in Thompsonville, where he and another man allegedly pistol-whipped a victim in the course of robbing him, Hall said.

His accomplice in that incident, at his probation office in Bridgeport. He is charged with 1st-degree robbery, 2nd-degree larceny, 2nd-degree assault with a firearm and carrying a dangerous weapon, Hall said.

Both men appeared in court Wednesday morning, Hall said.

Dunning also faces charges of 3rd-degree assault, 2nd-degree breach of peace and 3rd-degree criminal mischief, stemming from a domestic disturbance in 2011. He is also charged with interfering with an officer after initially fleeing from police, Hall said.

He is being held on bonds totaling $275,000, Hall said.
