LETTER: Bob Gillespie Running For Fire Commissioner

Hello, my name is Bob Gillespie. I am running for Commissioner in the Thompsonville Fire District.

I have been involved with the fire service in our town since I started as a Junior Cadet with the Thompsonville Fire District in 1978. I would like your support for Commissioner of TFD and in return I promise to expand the commission to 5 members ASAP, make the budget process as transparent as it can be, and find ways to bring our taxes under control.

There are ways we can control the present spending trend. I believe the monthly meetings need to be held at hours our taxpayers can attend not in the middle of the afternoon. I am not running to close the department down or lay firefighters off, so please don’t listen to the rumors circulating presently about me wanting this. We have a great bunch of firefighters in this district, they are highly trained and dedicated to the taxpayers of this district.

I was born and raised in the District and still live here. I have great pride in the village we have here and believe what we have is worth saving and making shine.
